Speak Out Americans!About Voice4Americans.orgI'm one of the many Americans affected by the economic downturn over the past eight years. My personal story touches on almost every aspect of our past and present economic dilemma. The middle class in the United States is dwindling. Americans need to sit up and take notice, and more importantly they need to get involved in the process of change. Remember the Boston Tea Party from history class or Gandhi’s movement encouraging Indians to buy only homespun cloth to help gain India's independence from England? As American consumers we have the power to loosen the grip “Big Business” has on our Government and our economy. Today's challenge is to reclaim American democracy and the power to choose; from large multi-national companies and their political lobbyists. Their profits come from the products we choose to purchase. We can make another choice. It is called "Responsible Consumerism."
